Geeks need gimmicks
It seems since the digital era camera companies have lost the plot on what a camera was originally intended. Now its all about gimmicks, how many things can your camera do?
Do you have video option? yes great, now I can be a director as well as a photographer not forgetting editor and graphic designer to be able to use the software. Ever heard the saying jack of all trades, master of none?
Digital cameras has lost the panache that manual cameras hold and at the end of the day they all originate from basically the same factories, you take this part and we take that, spray it a different colour and call it our own.
Are the photographers really being thought about anymore?
With Hasselblad’s lunar (read below) and Nikons failure with creating a camera too powerful for its lenses and not forgetting the $50,000 Leica M9-P Hermes edition, really? the people who would buy that sort of camera wouldn’t even know how to appreciate it, or even have the savvy to switch to manual, it just looks good with their Birkin.
Geeks need gimmicks, it gives them something to talk about, for photographers, it only adds weight and a higher repair bill.
